Protein expression and purification: In our lab, it is possible to use molecular biology techniques to clone and over-express proteins from E. coli. Purification procedures are performed using a variety of chromatographic methods and biophysical analyses are carried out to ensure the quality of the purified proteins. We are also developing novel techniques, like "yeast display", in which apoflavodoxin of Anabaena sp will be expressed on the surface of Saccharomyces cerevisae.
X-ray crystallography of macromolecules: With this technique, we obtain information about the three dimensional structure of proteins and complexes that is crucial in structure-function studies in electron transfer reactions, enzyme activity, folding...
Biophysical characterization of proteins: We also provide the required infrastructure, the experimental and data analysis expertise to characterize proteins and drug-like small molecules, using spectroscopic (Spectrophotometry, Fluorometry, Circular Dichroism...) and calorimetric (ITC and DSC) techniques.
