Supercomputing, Science and Society: Scientific Workshop in Honor of Alfonso Tarancón’s Career

A Tribute to a Career
On the occasion of his 70th birthday and retirement, we would like to pay tribute to Alfonso Tarancón and recognize his outstanding scientific career in the fields of computational physics and supercomputing. For decades, his work has contributed to the development of these disciplines and left a lasting impact on both research and everyone who has had the opportunity to work, collaborate, and learn alongside him.
On November 20, we will hold a special scientific workshop in his honor, bringing together colleagues, collaborators, and friends. Through a series of talks given by peers and collaborators who have shared parts of his journey, we will review some of the main lines of research that have marked his career: from the development of special-purpose computers for scientific simulations to the applications of advanced computing in science and society.
It will be an occasion to share experiences, look back on past projects, highlight his contributions, and celebrate both his scientific legacy and the beginning of a new chapter.
