Profile:
Personal statement
I obtained my Bachelor’s in Biomedical Engineering from the Pompeu Fabra University in 2019, and an MSc in Systems Biology from the Maastricht University in 2021. Now I am a PhD student at Cosnet BIFI, under the co-supervision of Yamir Moreno and Alberto Aletá. While pursuing my PhD, I also worked as a Junior Researcher at the Institute for Scientific Interchange (ISI) and the CENTAI Institute, both based in Turin, Italy.
Researcher profile identity.
My research focuses on applying complex systems methods to the management of different societal challenges. I aim to create data-driven methods that help policymakers understand the impact of their interventions and plan sustainable policies accordingly. Some of my most recent projects involve: studying the impacts of Palm oil production in sustainable development, the effectiveness of contact-tracing apps during the Covid-19 pandemic, assessing the impact of flood risk on home prices, and quantifying the robustness of food-trade networks against shocks.
Why my research is important
All the societal challenges I am interested in (e.g. epidemics, climate change, trade shocks…) are currently hot topics among policymakers. Thus, providing them with data-driven predictive models that explore the potential outcomes of their interventions could greatly help them in their decision-making process.
