Personal statement
Eternal apprentice. Industrial Engineer, Technical Architect and doctor in Economics and Organizational Management. Since 2008, I am part of the Department of Business Management and Organization at the University of Zaragoza. Currently, I am a full professor in the Faculty of Social and Labor Sciences. I teach in the degree of Labor Relations and Human Resources, as well as in several university masters, in subjects such as Project Management, Team Management and Innovation, or Start-up and Management of Energy Service Companies and Projects.
My mission is to create the best learning and research development environment for my students. I consider it fundamental to help those who come after me and leave a significant footprint in their path.
I am a public servant by conviction. I develop research proposals that generate positive changes in people, companies and society. Supporting cutting-edge research driven in Europe.
Researcher profile identity
Currently, I am an R4 researcher (accredited professor). My line of research focuses on how complex systems and collective intelligence can be used to understand, model and optimize knowledge transfer in innovation ecosystems, with a special focus on the challenges and opportunities posed by digital transformation.
I have had the opportunity to lead and collaborate in more than 20 European, national, as well as transfer projects with both companies and public administrations. I have also led, together with two BIFI members, David Íñiguez and Gonzalo Ruiz, the Ángela López research award (2019) “Research in Aragon in the context of the European Union: analysis of the H2020 ecosystem”, granted by CESA-GOBIERNO DE ARAGÓN.
Why my research is important
Understanding the dynamics of complex systems in innovation ecosystems is fundamental to unravel the non-linear interactions between key actors (universities, companies, public and private institutions). These interactions generate patterns that, when modeled using advanced network and complex systems tools, allow us to identify strategic relationships, predict collective behaviors and optimize the allocation of R&D&I resources.
The analysis of these networks makes it possible to detect key nodes that catalyze innovation, identify bottlenecks in knowledge transfer and evaluate the effectiveness of existing policies, such as the Horizon Europe programs, maximizing the impact of investments and facilitating the design of more inclusive and results-oriented public policies.
Likewise, the detection of emerging patterns optimizes the effectiveness of public policies by addressing inequalities between sectors or regions, promoting an equitable and sustainable distribution of the benefits derived from innovation for society as a whole.
