Personal statement
After eight years working in clinical diagnostics in the private sector, I had the opportunity to join a great team made up of experienced researchers who are eager to give opportunities to new members. My relationship with BIFI goes back quite a few years, since it was where I did my master’s thesis and where I had the opportunity to meet those who today guide my steps.
Researcher profile identity
I am a predoctoral researcher in the group of Dr. Adrián Velázquez Campoy and Dr. Olga Abián Franco. My research focuses on the search for new drugs to combat multidrug-resistant gram-negative bacteria.
Why my research is important
In recent years, acquired resistance to antibiotics by bacteria has become a major challenge for the scientific and medical community, significantly limiting the therapeutic possibilities for infections that are currently highly relevant and prevalent in the hospital environment and in the community. Developing a new pharmacological strategy capable of circumventing these resistance mechanisms would be a great advance and a solution to combat certain bacterial infections.
