Personal statement
After completing the Master of English Teaching, I began my PhD studies in English Studies with an FPU Grant. In my thesis, I addressed aspects related to oral communication in English from two perspectives: on the one hand, I carried out an ethnomethodological exploration of written and oral practices in research communication; on the other, I carried out a combined rhetorical and phonological analysis of audiovisual exemplars of Video Methods Articles, a specialized genre of professional science communication. After finishing the thesis in 2022, I have continued to develop my research career in relation to digital literacy, corpus linguistics, and multimodal communication.
Researcher profile identity
I am an R2 level researcher and I study how scientific knowledge is transformed into communicative acts and the different codes used for this. For example, I am interested in seeing how the results of a research give rise to different articles, infographics or videos, as well as trying to decipher the most effective way to do it.
Why my research is important
My research is important because it contributes to a better understanding of how science is transferred to society through processes of communication between experts and from experts to the general public. If we understand these processes, we can find out how to improve them, how to value them and how to create an informed and democratic society at the knowledge level.
