Personal statement
In 2019 I defended my doctoral thesis “The convergence between internationalisation and language policy in higher education”, under the direction of Professor Carmen Pérez-Llantada at the University of Zaragoza, with stays at the Universities of Birmingham (UK) and Bucharest Economic University (Romania). In 2021, I received the Enrique Alcaraz prize for the best doctoral thesis awarded by the European Association of Languages for Specific Purposes (AELFE). Since 2020, I have worked at the University of Zaragoza as a teacher and researcher: first at the Faculty of Humanities and Education and then as a doctoral assistant at the Faculty of Economics and Business, where I currently teach English for Specific Purposes. I am also a member of the Digital Science group at BIFI where I collaborate with innovation projects and with the development of training materials to help scientists to disseminate science digitally.

Researcher profile identity
Currently, I am an R2 level researcher according to EURAXESS. My main lines of research focus on the rhetorical and discursive analysis of academic and professional texts. In particular, I have focused on the analysis of tweets and social networks published by scientists to communicate science to expert and lay audiences. On the one hand, I analyze the structure and communicative goals of the texts with corpus linguistics and theories of textual genres. On the other hand, I incorporate elements of multimodal analysis where I explore the role of images, videos and emojis in conveying information in a more effective and attractive way.

Another line of research that I have developed focuses on the use of interviews to understand the attitudes and perceptions of scientists towards science communication in English or the popularization of science in digital formats.

Why my research is important
With my research, I intend to provide empirical data to support the development of training materials and courses for both professional English and the development of communicative competences in English for scientists. By combining textual and multimodal aspects, the results of my research can help to understand why we communicate in certain ways and how we can apply it to formal but also informal contexts.

I also collaborate with the website https://www.universidadsi.es/ where I share these topics with the university community.
