Women in Science is a female leadership project. It aims to research, raise awareness of, and promote the role of female researchers in public and digital communication of science. W4S was created as part of a project within the National R&D&I Plan focusing on digital communication and open science. Since then, the team has secured significant national and European Commission funding to further knowledge in this area and open up a new line of research into the practices, challenges, barriers and opportunities faced by female researchers in the context of digital transformation. This research integrates multidisciplinary perspectives from digital humanities, computer science and data science. The team has used surveys, structured interviews, focus groups, case studies, small-scale data mining techniques and experimental digital writing techniques. These methods have generated innovative results in the project’s area of specialisation, promoting a more egalitarian and open science in Aragon and beyond. The research was conducted at the Digital Science Laboratory of the BIFI’s Computer Science Area.
