On Monday 13 April, BIFI researcher Nunilo Cremades participated in a Parkinson’s disease conference entitled ‘Understanding Parkinson’s: Advances and New Perspectives”, organised by the Aragón Parkinson’s Association and San Jorge University. The date was chosen to coincide with World Parkinson’s Day on 11 April.

Dr Cremades gave a talk entitled ‘Toxic proteins in neurodegenerative diseases: Towards the early diagnosis of Parkinson’s”. The conference was very well received, proving to be a great success in terms of attendance and attracting a diverse audience, thus fulfilling the initial objective. Patients, family members, biomedical students and current and future healthcare professionals were in attendance.

The centrepiece of the event was an exhibition featuring information panels on topics such as the aetiology of Parkinson’s disease, treatments, and other issues related to the condition from a biomedical perspective. These panels were developed by students on the Biomedicine degree programme at San Jorge University and displayed at the university’s Plaza Santa Cruz premises.
